ABOUT US
The Modular Ducting Systems story
Modular Ducting Systems was founded by George O’Brien in 2001 with a mission to improve the working conditions of people in the South Island. With clean air to breathe at work, George believes that people will be happier, healthier, and more productive. Over the following 25 years, George built up the South Island’s only resident dust and fume extraction design and component supply business.
Our working relationship with BTS Engineering
For many years, BTS Engineering was George’s preferred installer and maintenance contractor. So it made a lot of sense for George to sell his business to Clint Thorburn of BTS in late 2025. Now George concentrates on system design, and Clint’s team manages the operations side of the business.
